Bellow you can find the topics covered by PCaPAC 2008:

Classical topics

  • Status reports and control system overviews (only a few talks will be solicited, which will preferably give conceptual Overviews of several control systems, outlining the pros and cons of the different solutions)
  • Control hardware and low-level software (what the electronics group usually does)
  • Control software: applications and tools (what the software group usually does)

PCaPAC traditional topics

  • Low-cost control systems (since we talk about PC control)
  • Application of commercial control systems and applications (SCADA, LabView, Matlab, integration of HVAC and other commercial solutions)
  • Control system interoperability (examples of cohabitation of TINE, TANGO, EPICS, etc.)
  • Control system collaborations (only papers signed by members from different labs are accepted. We solicit not only collaborations on core software such as TANGO, EPICS and TINE, but also joint developments of components, boards, widgets, etc.)
  • User perspectives ("customer" testimonies)

Trendy topics

  • Extreme performances (amount of data, computational performance, reaction times, etc.)
  • Control solutions with FPGAs
  • Embedded device control
  • Use of Web 2.0 in control and cyber security
  • Development and application frameworks

Non-technical topics (what the management worries about)

  • Security and reliability
  • How to manage maintenance and upgrades
  • Operating system safety and recovery
  • System administration, project management and documentation technologies
  • Standardization
